Cancer Causes Breast Implant lymphoma

Most of the women recently chose implants (implants), breast to be performed with fuller chest and sexy.

Food Safety Authority and the United States Drug Administration (FDA) states, it is currently reviewing the possibility of risk and the relationship between breast implants and a rare form of cancer.

Cancer called anaplastic large cell lymphoma (AlCl), which attacks the lymph nodes and skin, also reportedly appeared on the scar tissue growing around the breast implant.

According to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, in addition to rare AlCl also known as an aggressive type of blood cancer, and contributes about 3% of all blood cancers in adults.

This cancer attacks the lymph nodes and skin. Reported attack this cancer usually begin to appear from scar tissue that appear around the implant. Currently being asked all the doctors who handle similar cases to immediately report it to this institution.

This institution is indeed a new study 60 cases of this disease throughout the world, among the estimated 5-10 million women with breast implants.
The institute is also still researching the literature on similar cases since 1997, both governments made a number of countries or of companies producing implants.

It turned out that in most cases reported, the patients began to seek medical help after feeling pain, no lumps, inflammation and various other complaints surrounding the surgical sites.

As reported by Reuters, Dr. William Maisel, the chief objects of medical research at the FDA said, most cases of this rare type of cancer were reported after patients sought treatment for complaints that they experience such as pain, swelling, lumps, and other problems around the site of the former implant surgery.

"We are very interested to understand more deeply about which patients are more risky and which type of implant that will lead to higher risk," said Dr. William.

From a number of cases found, the growth of cancer cells originated from the wound incision scar is usually located around the armpit. Of scar tissue formed, after a long time that cancer grows and spreads to the lymph glands.

The FDA has thus far not seen any difference in rates of cancer among patients who wore silicone or saline implants. They also found no difference in patients who do implants for cosmetic reasons in patients undergoing surgery for reasons of reconstruction after breast cancer.

"Users implants, either in the form of liquid silicone or saline, are at increased risk of AlCl. The increase is relatively small but quite significant," the FDA said in a release, as quoted by Reuters on Thursday (27 / 1).

Previously, the danger of the use of silicone implants in particular that has been frequently discussed. In 1992, the FDA had banned the installation of silicone in the breast because the risk of leaking and then accumulate in the lymph nodes that disrupt the immune system overall.

The ban was later lifted around 2006, after a silicon implant manufacturing technology is considered to be able to produce a safer product. But even now not only the declared dangerous silicone implants, saline implants but also because both can increase the risk of AlCl.

Currently, the FDA continues to work closely with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in recording patients with cancer and then monitor their progress over time
